Her Campus National Pre-Collegiette Conference

On Saturday, I attended Her Campus's National Pre-Collegiette Conference at Northeastern University with one of my best friends, Alex! Boston is less than an hour away from me, so we decided to drive in. The conference started at 9:30, and we got there a little bit after it started! Unfortunately, it was freezing cold and raining on Saturday. However, that didn't stop us from dressing up in adorable sundresses!

Once we got there, we enjoyed delicious Maia Greek yogurt. We both chose vanilla bean! We also got goody bags that had tons of fabulous treats such as a notebook, two pens, nail polish, a bag of Popchips, a cup, a raffle ticket, and more.

The conference started out with an opening introduction by Windsor, one of the co-founders of Her Campus. Throughout the day, we traveled between two different buildings for the conference. After the opening introduction, we headed over to the other building for the first panel. There were three time blocks, and there were three different panels to choose from for each time block. The first panel I chose was study tips for freshman year. I love learning about new ways to study and get work done, so I was really interested by that panel.

I attended another panel right after that one. The second panel I chose was about how to eat healthy in college. This seminar was super helpful because we all always hear about the "freshman fifteen" and ordering late-night snacks! I learned great tips on how to choose healthier food choices in college that still taste delicious.

Something that was really cool was outside of the seminars were tables that had water, Popchips, Neuro waters, and Hint waters. It was nice to grab one of those before or after a seminar if you got thirsty or hungry! That was my first time trying Popchips, Neuro water, and Hint water. They were all absolutely delicious! There was also a "social currency" station outside of the seminars. If you posted on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook about the conference using the hashtag #HStoHC, you got extra raffle tickets to use to win one of the great prizes! If any of you follow my blog Twitter, that explains why I had about a million tweets.

After the second panel was lunch. We headed over to the first building and ate from a buffet catered by Chipotle! That was my first time ever having Chipotle, and I have to admit that it was really good. I was a huge fan of the guacamole and chips!

Lunch was followed by the last panel. The last panel I chose was about how to get an internship in college. I loved this panel because I feel that internships are crucial to have in building experience, especially when in college. I learned a lot of great tips!

When all of the panels were over, we heard a motivational speech from Jessica Bashelor, the founder of  The Handlebar in Boston. Jess told us all about her life and how she applied to four colleges and only got into one of them, her safety school, which happened to be Northeastern. She changed her major multiple times and ended up graduating with a degree in biology. However, she decided that she didn't want to do anything with biology. She continued to be a waitress until she came up with the brilliant idea of opening up a cycling studio. After coming up with a business plan and finding investors, she was finally able to open up her dream business. Her studio is now rather successful, and she recently opened up a second location in the Fenway neighborhood! Jess taught all of us girls there that your "safety school" just might be the best thing that's ever happened to you. Hearing her speak about her passion for her business made me know for a fact that I want to open up my own business one day!

There was a fashion show after Jess's keynote that was directed by Windsor and stressed the do's and don'ts of fashion in college. It was really funny and really helpful! The raffle took place after the fashion show. There were multiple winners, and the prizes included Chipotle gift cards, LeSportsac bags, two Intel devices, and a pair of Jack Rogers! Intel took care of the technology parts of the conference, which was awesome. Obviously I put all of my raffle tickets into the Jack Rogers raffle, but unfortunately, I didn't win. I was so happy for all of the girls that won the prizes though because they were amazing prizes!

After the fashion show, we had a little blogger meet up. I met some fabulous bloggers at the conference, which was really awesome because I've never met a blogger in real life before! I wish I got a picture, but my phone was running on 4% battery at that time from using it so much to tweet and everything. So here is a tip of advice for you: if you ever go to some type of conference like this, be sure to bring your phone charger with you because your phone will die very quickly!!!

The conference ended at about 4:30, and I was sad to leave. I had a blast there and cannot wait to attend as much Her Campus events in the future as I can!

Review // Apparel by PW

Apparel by PW is a brand new preppy, up-and-coming store located in Boston. Since the store is fairly new, the only items they have so far are croakies, belts, t-shirts, and key fobs. When James contacted me to review a pair of croakies, I couldn't be happier!

I got the popping bottles croakies. They go perfect with my Ray Bans! The croakies are very easy to put on, and this is actually their brand new design for the croakies.

You can order any of their items online, and they are also available in a few boutiques in New England. This is fabulous since I've been a New England girl since birth!

What are your favorite items from Apparel by PW?

Giveaway // Red Wagon Design Shop

Most of you know of my huge obsession with stationery, so when I got the chance to do a giveaway for Red Wagon Design Shop, I was super excited! Red Wagon Design Shop is an Etsy shop that creates stationery catered to your wants. However, the stationery is then sent to you as a PDF file so you can print it yourself. This is an awesome thing because then you can print as many copies as you want whenever you want!

With this giveaway, there will be two winners. The winners will receive printable stationery in the design of their choice! Good luck ladies!

Warmer Weather = Callahan Shorts

Although I love basically everything from Lilly, the Callahan shorts are probably my favorite. I wear shorts almost every day in the summer, unless I have a reason to wear a dress or skirt, so these shorts come in handy. They are the perfect length because they're not too short but not too long. They also come in all different colors and patterns too, which is great! I now have seven pairs of Callahan shorts in my collection, and I'm obsessed with them all! The newest are the white and navy from the Ruelala sale.

Last Saturday, the temperature finally reached 70 degrees! I was thrilled because it was a beautiful day. Because the temperature was finally warm, I thought it was time to pull out my Callahan shorts. I wore the mint pair when I spent my weekend by the water, and I got a lot of compliments! I'm hoping to add more shorts to my collection, and I can't wait to wear all of them this summer.

Do you wear the Callahan shorts?

Review // Pokemon Garden Etsy Shop

Pokemon Garden is a cute little Etsy shop that sells tons of little washi tapes and other trinkets. Since I am a huge fan of sending snail mail, I love using washi tape to decorate the snail mail that I send. When I found out I was lucky enough to do a review of the shop, I was thrilled!

I couldn't be happier with the products I received. They are all so adorable and will come in handy when sending snail mail!

What are your favorite items from Pokemon Garden?

Weekend by the Water

It was super sunny, over 70 degrees, and just an overall nice day on Saturday, so Tyler and I decided to take a ride down to the water! We ate dinner at a really good Italian restaurant. Tyler got swordfish with shrimp and garlic and butter sauce while I got basil pizza. We both had a little bit of each other's meals, and they were very good! After dinner, we took a walk on the jetty. It was so pretty to be there while the sun was setting!

I'm looking forward to spending many more days this summer by the water!

Finding Preppy Clothes For A Good Price

Although I love buying new clothes, they can be super expensive! I do have a job, but I also have to put my money towards car insurance and if I just need money for other things. Buying some of my clothes for full price can make me cringe because of how expensive they usually are, which is why I love whenever I find a good sale!

Since I love getting clothes for discounted prices, I thought I would put together a list on how to find preppy clothes for a reasonable price!

one // Ruelala
For any of you who don't know what Ruelala is, it's a website that has "sales" every day with certain topics, such as "dresses under $100," "shoes for $50 and under," etc. There is a Lilly Pulitzer sale on there every once in a while that offers the clothes for basically half-off! I've also seen Vineyard Vines and Brooks Brothers a couple of times. Ruelala is a members-only website, so if you don't have an account, I suggest you get one! You can sign up here: http://www.ruelala.com/invite/ashleymason

two // Poshmark
Poshmark is an app that allows you to add your clothes that you no longer want to your "closet." People can buy them from you, and you can also buy things from other people! There are clothes that are new and clothes that are slightly used, but they are all offered at great prices. I've seen multiple Lilly, Vineyard Vines, and J. Crew pieces. You also need to be a member on Poshmark in order to buy items, so sign up ASAP!

three // store sales
Stores also usually offer sales at the end of a season, so it's a good idea to buy a lot and stock up for next year. Vineyard Vines and J. Crew also have "sale" pages, so check those out! Unfortunately, Lilly only offers two sales a year: at the end of August and at the beginning of the new year. However, these sales are always huge, so make sure to attend them when they happen so you can get some great deals!

four // eBay
A lot of people put up clothes on eBay. I personally don't think I would buy any clothes from eBay, but it's a really good site to check out if you want clothes or accessories! There are tons of items that you can usually get for a good price.

five // consignment stores
I've never been to a consignment store before, but I heard that you can sometimes find Lilly, Ralph Lauren, and Vineyard Vines there! If you have any consignment stores near you, you should check them out. I also love to go to the Marshall's and TJ Maxx near me because they have a good amount of Polo Ralph Lauren clothes that I love to buy.

six // "ReLilly" Facebook Groups
I'm not a part of one, but some of my blogger friends have told me about "ReLilly" Facebook groups where a bunch of girls post Lilly clothes that no longer fit them/they no longer want and sell them for good prices. I assume other brands are in there too, so search for one (or a few!) on Facebook and join them!

I hope this helped any of you who are always looking to save money like me! Let me know if you have any other ideas that I missed.

How do you get preppy clothes for a good price?

Her Campus National Pre-Collegiette Conference

As some of you may know, I'm part of the Blogger Network for Her Campus. Her Campus is an online and offline community for college women. I absolutely love being a part of the blogger network for HC because I have "met" tons of fabulous ladies!

On Saturday, April 26th, Her Campus is having a conference at Northeastern University in Boston! The conference is for high school girls to learn about the college process. At the conference, the girls will learn from a real college admissions officer about who gets in where and why, talk to college women, learn about internship advisors about how to get your first internship, hear from keynote speaker Jessica Bashelor, receive a goody bag, enter to win a free laptop from Intel and Jack Rogers Navajos, and have free lunch from Chipotle!

I will be attending the conference with one of my best friends, Alex, and we're super excited! If you would like to attend, you can sign up here: http://www.hercampus.com/high-school/her-campus-national-pre-collegiette-conference-0

If you use the code HCFREE, you can get in for free! I hope to see some of you there!

Are you planning on attending the conference?

How to Welcome Spring

Now that the weather is finally getting warmer, it's starting to feel more like spring! However, there are still somethings that can be done to welcome spring and make the season a little more cheerful. Check them out below!

one // buy flowers
There is nothing I love more than fresh flowers! Flowers always remind me that warmer weather is on the way. They're also a great way to add a pop of color to a room. Buy a bouquet of beautiful flowers from your local farmer's market or grocery store and put them in your kitchen, bedroom, etc.

two // open windows
I love the fresh air, and it's terrible that the windows are closed all winter. However, once it gets warm enough, I love opening up my windows in my room to let in some fresh air and sunlight! Do the same with your room to give your room a fresh, clean smell.

three // change closets
I love my winter clothes, but I am sick of constantly having to wear boots, sweaters, wool socks, etc.! The colors are so dark and boring. My spring clothes, however, are so colorful and lightweight! Switch your wardrobe over from winter clothes to spring clothes in order to embrace the warmer weather.

four // switch drinks
Did you drink coffee and tea all winter? Well, it's now too hot to drink hot drinks! Change your coffee to iced coffee and tea to iced tea. The cold drinks will feel much more refreshing, and they will remind you that summer will be here before you know it!

How do you welcome spring?

Ruelala Purchases

When there was a Lilly Pulitzer sale on Ruelala a couple of weeks ago, I was so excited because I was in desperate need of spring/summer clothes. I had my eyes on a pair of navy and white Callahan shorts because the navy and white shorts I had didn't fit anymore. When I saw that the Callahan shorts in both of those colors were on Ruelala, I absolutely freaked and immediately bought them! I basically got two pairs of shorts for the price of one, which was awesome.

These are the only things I got from the sale, but I'm perfectly okay with that! I obviously haven't gotten the chance to wear them yet since it's only April, but I can't wait until warmer weather comes along so I can pull them out.

What did you get from the Lilly sale on Ruelala?

Giveaway :: Moglea

I recently came across Moglea, and when I first saw it, I absolutely fell in love. Moglea is a letterpress company that makes stationery, cards, calendars, etc. (aka everything that is right up my alley!!!). I'm so excited that I get to share my love for Moglea to you all through a giveaway! The lucky gal will receive a "you are so freaking awesome" card, "do something awesome" notepad, and "make today lovely" notepad.

Wallpaper

I haven't made a new wallpaper in a while, so I felt that it was time! I absolutely love this quote because I feel like all of us girls need to have more confidence in ourselves and let ourselves shine. We're all fabulous!

Feel free to use this as a wallpaper for your computer, iPad, iPhone, etc. Or you can even print it out and pin it to your "inspiration board" if you have one!

Spring Cleaning

I have a love/hate relationship with spring cleaning. I love it because I love the thought of being organized and getting rid of everything I don't need. However, I hate it because I usually have a lot to clean... which can take a while.

I'm actually really looking forward to spring cleaning this year because I have a ton of junk laying around that I need to get rid of! I felt that I should break up my spring cleaning into two sections: my wardrobe and desk. Both of those places are overflowing with unnecessary items, so why not start there? I'm going to follow the checklists below while cleaning, so feel free to do the same for yourself!

one // wardrobe
1. Go through all drawers and closet and take out clothes that I no longer want or don't fit me.
2. Upload clothes to Poshmark and donate the clothes that aren't in good enough condition to sell.
3. Switch out fall/winter clothes with spring/summer clothes.

two // desk
1. Go through the surface of my desk and throw any junk away.
2. Organize stuff on desk into neat piles.
3. Go through "craft bin" and throw out anything that is unimportant.

Even though there are only three tasks for each section, I know that it'll take me a really long time to get through all of these! I'm planning on starting it today since I have nothing to do. Wish me luck!

Have you started spring cleaning yet?

Lilly Tumbler

About a week ago, my lovely Lilly tumbler came in the mail! I got it from Amazon using a gift card I had. I had been dying to get my own Lilly tumbler; I have a tumbler that I got from the Christmas Tree Shop, but I feel like it's too small for me. I love that my Lilly one is 20 oz. because it fits a good amount of whatever drink I want to put in it.

I use it basically every day! I just fill it up with water and continuously drink out of it. I've found that drinking my water out of this tumbler has made me drink more water each day because I'm always inclined to drink more of something when it's out of a pretty cup and has a straw!

Do you have a Lilly tumbler?

Poshmark

After seeing my drawers and closet overflowing with clothes, I realized that it was time to get rid of some. I don't even wear half of the clothes that I have, so I need to go out with the old in order to make room with the new! I thought it would be a really good idea to sell my clothes in order to make some money off of them.

That's when I came across Poshmark! I noticed that a lot of bloggers have Poshmark, so I felt that it's pretty reliable. For those of you who have never heard of Poshmark, it's an app that allows you to post clothes and other items you don't want to your "closet" to sell. I only have one item on so far, but I plan on adding many more!

The one item I have is a pair of Vineyard Vines Corduroy Shorts size 0 in vineyard navy! I have never worn them, and the tags are still on. I ordered them online at the end of the summer, and I realized that I just didn't like them as much as I did online. The price I'm asking for is $30; you can either buy it from me through Poshmark or PayPal! Let me know if you're interested!

Do you use Poshmark?

Huffington Post

Being a lover of reading, I'm always looking for something new to read! Since I'm already 17, I felt that I should be more aware of what's going on around me in the world. I love watching the news because the news reporters break every topic down so that it's understandable. However, I don't like how the same stories are constantly repeated.

I tried reading various different newspapers, but I felt like the language was too "above" me; there were lots of big words I didn't know, and honestly, it made me feel stupid to be reading those articles. That's when I came across the Huffington Post! I found all of the articles really easy to understand and very simple. I also love how it has separate sections, such as technology, celebrities, etc. because then I get to choose what I want to read about!

My favorite sections are business, technology, celebrities, and teen. I often find myself reading these sections in physics instead of paying attention... Oops. If you are looking to read more about the world, I highly suggest you check out the Huffington Post!

OOTD :: Navy & Pink

Top: Lilly Pulitzer // Jeans: Abercrombie Kids // Shoes: Sperry's // Necklace: Best Name Necklace Etsy Shop

Last Friday was a dress down day for my school! It was a "blue and gold" day to show our school spirit at the spring sports rally we were having that day. However, being obsessed with the color combination of navy and pink, I felt that was a better outfit to wear!

It was about 60 degrees on Friday, which was really nice. However, it was also kind of rainy! I felt this would be the perfect outfit to wear for the occasion and for the weather. I scored this adorable shirt from Lilly during the new year sale!

How do you incorporate the color combination of navy and pink into your outfits?

Accept & Move On

This year, one of my mottos has been "accept and move on." I've realized that not everything happens the way you would like it to. And I've realized this because of my grades. Before this year, I never got a B on a report card. Ever. However, I have gotten As and Bs on every report card so far this year, and surprisingly, I'm okay with that.

If I were to get a B on my report card last year, I would probably freak out and have a mental breakdown. But I was also going through a lot of stress last year because sophomore year is such a hard year. I wanted my grades to be perfect, so I worked my butt off night and day to get the grades I wanted. I did homework and studied whenever I had the time, even if it was on Friday and Saturday nights. This caused me to get really good grades, but I was pushing myself so much that I had tons of breakdowns weekly and went through a lot of stress.

After that year was over, I thought to myself, was that really worth it? And that's when I realized it wasn't. It wasn't worth it to miss hanging out with friends over the weekend to do homework. It wasn't worth it putting myself under so much stress that I constantly had breakdowns. It wasn't worth it to never have time for myself.

So this year, I stopped doing that. I still spend a good amount of time doing homework and studying, but I don't let school take over my life. I have actually even set aside time for myself, which is something I didn't do at all last year. I spend my weekends relaxing instead of spending them doing schoolwork.

Third term grades close on Friday, and I'm possibly getting a C+ in one of my classes. And you know what? I'm okay with that. I try my hardest without letting school take over my life, and I balance a social life, school, work, and soccer in the fall. So I'm okay with not getting all As. Surprisingly enough, I'm way more happier this year than last year, and I don't get stressed that much anymore.

The lesson that I learned that I just wanted to share with you all is to just accept life and move on. There is no point in getting upset over little things. Life doesn't always give you what you want, but if you tried your hardest to get it, that's all that matters.
